TAMAR BRAXTON SET TO RECEIVE ULTIMATE ICON AWARD 12TH ANNUAL PURE HEAT COMMUNITY FESTIVAL DURING GLOBAL BLACK PRIDE ATLANTA WEEKEND
– Atlanta Black Pride Weekend and Global Black Pride continue their historic collaboration hosting the first-ever Global Black Pride in Atlanta, GA, impacting the city, August 26th to September 2nd. The Vision Community Foundation, Traxx Girls Inc and Rockstars Production remain producing partners in the annual celebration. GRAMMY nominated singer/songwriter, Tamar Braxton, will join previously announced honorees, Keke Palmer and Jessica Betts, at the 12th annual Pure Heat Community Festival.
The near weeklong Pride Celebration will include special appearances by: Tamar Braxton, Jessica Betts, Niecy Nash-Betts, Keke Palmer, Billy Porter, Yemi Alade, Omawumi, Funky Dineva, Judge Pierce Hand Seitz, Bishop OC Allen III, Rashad Burgess, Melissa “DJ M” Scott and more. Global Black Pride organizers, in conjunction with the mayor’s office and the Atlanta Police Department, have taken extra precautions to ensure that all celebration participants have a safe and enjoyable weekend in the great peach state. The host hotel, Starling Hilton Midtown Atlanta, serves as the epicenter for lodging, convention, and general Atlanta information needs.
The weeklong celebration will showcase a variety of activities designed to embody the vibrancy and diversity of the Black LGBTQIA+ community. Festivities will include a two-day music festival at Piedmont Park, Global Black Pride Village, Gala & Influencer Dinner, Global Black LGBTQIA+ Human Rights and Health Conference, R&B Brunch, Empowerment Brunches, Black LGBTQIA+ Political Leaders Summit, Global Black Pride March and nightly parties. Returning for a 5th year, will be Mayor Andre Dickens’ Global Black Pride Reception held at Atlanta City Hall.
The third annual Black Excellence Influencer’s Dinner will be hosted by RockStars Production and Traxx Girls on Friday, August 30th at the Starling Hotel. This highly anticipated affair serves as a Fundraiser to benefit Global Black Pride Weekend and is a unique opportunity for trailblazers, leaders, and influencers to celebrate accomplishments while highlighting individuals and organizations who significantly impact and contribute to the LGBTQIA+ community. The 2024 honorees include: Rashad Burgess, Lisa Cunningham, Funky Dineva, Judge Pierce Hand Seitz, Derek Ford, Devin Barrington, Adrienne Gates, Congress Woman Barbara Lee and Earl D. Fowkles Jr.
On Sunday, September 1, Atlanta’s Piedmont Park will showcase the 12th annual Pure Heat Community Festival; also known as a free “day of unity.” The cultural event will be equipped with market and food vendors, live celebrity and local performers, entertainment, educational forums, prizes & giveaways, all designed to bring together the spirit of community, pride, and vision. The Pure Heat Community Festival is a front seat into a spectacular gathering of minority LGBTQIA+ people and their allies in the heart of Atlanta. GRAMMY nominated Tamar Braxton will receive the Ultimate Icon Award, EMMY Award and NAACP Image Award winner Keke Palmer will receive the annual Humanitarian Award; Rising Electric/Acoustic Rock Soul singer/songwriter, Jessica Betts, will be presented by her wife Niecy Nash-Betts with the annual Trailblazer Award.
