Opening Speaker | Dr. KIM McNair

Founder Business Women Empowerment Project Inc.

Dr. Kim McNair is the Chief Executive Officer of Kim McNair Productions, LLC (KMP), the Executive Producer and host of the Emmy-nominated television program, Women on the MOVE Live!, and the Founder of the Business Women Empowerment Project (BWEP), a 501 (c)(3) organization. A former model, Dr. Kim learned the importance of presentation during her many years on the runway. She incorporated that knowledge into a business when she moved from the Northeast to Florida, retired from modeling, and started her event planning business in 1991. Dr. Kim has built KMP into a thriving business, operating on themes of empowerment and collaboration, and providing turnkey event planning and marketing services for a wide variety of clients. She has been featured in and interviewed for publications including the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Rolling Out, South Fulton Lifestyle and Sheen Magazine, and on radio and TV outlets including WATC-TV Atlanta’s 57, V-103 and Café Mocha Radio. In 2007, Dr. Kim relocated to Atlanta, GA and expanded the KMP brand.

She developed a successful track record for producing special events, while also increasing her marketing and public relations skills. She showcased those skills in an event for the City of Lovejoy, which was such an overwhelming success that the city awarded her a contract for special events in 2009-2010. That started a string of impressive special event accomplishments for KMP’s celebrity clients, non-profit organizations, and local governments. In 2013, Dr. Kim created an annual conference, the “Women on The Move Summit,” connecting women entrepreneurs, small business owners, CEOs, executives, and community leaders. The event urges participants to “Collaborate, Connect and Create to build empires.”

Giving back to the community has always been an important part of Dr. Kim McNair’s life. Her personal trials led her to establish the non-profit Business Women Empowerment Project, Inc. (BWEP) in 2015. The organization’s mission is to empower businesswomen to find access to resources to help build their businesses, brands, and themselves. BWEP’s vision is to inspire a generation of women leaders to succeed in business. In 2020, Dr. Kim expanded her mission to include mentorship and development for high school girls. The BWEP Leadership Academy for High School Girls was birthed with a goal to help teenage girls find direction post-high school. The Academy includes mentoring session focused on leadership development. This program featuring five pillars leadership skills, entrepreneurship, life skills, and financial Literacy, and technology.

Celebrity photographer and disabled Vietnam veteran Jerome Dorn embodies the very definition of resilience. Born in Philadelphia, the fifth of seven children, Dorn stayed focused throughout his youth, eventually obtaining his degree in Criminal Justice. Dorn has worked with the Philadelphia Police Department, Department of Justice, World Wide Detective Agency, and several other high profile security groups. Throughout his successful career, Dorn wrestled with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, an aftereffect of his military service. Battling the pain and debilitating effect of PTSD, Dorn found comfort behind the camera. Photography proved to be not only therapeutic, but life changing as well. Dorn picked up his first camera in 1970 while serving in Vietnam and knew instantly that behind the lens was where he belonged. His shooting style and photographs were special, generating a buzz in the industry. In 1985, he began his career in photojournalism, working in a variety of genres. Dorn’s credentials include fashion, lifestyle photography, photojournalism, and celebrity/red carpet coverage. Working with MSNBC, Jet Magazine, and major publications in Philadelphia and around the country, Dorn has had the honor of capturing the images of hundreds of notable celebrities and politicians including President Barack Obama, George Bush Jr, Bill and Hillary Clinton, Maya Angelou, Jesse Jackson, Rihanna, Snoop Dog, Will Smith, and Tyler Perry. Photography has sent Dorn around the globe, inspiring his passion for civil activism. In 1995, Dorn assembled and led a group of forty-two men to the Million Man March. Together, they spent five days walking from Philadelphia to Washington DC. In his travels, Dorn observed a common theme amongst the youth of the world. Many of the children he encountered seemed lost. Understanding that opportunities for at-risk youth are minimal, Dorn was inspired to make a difference. Established by Dorn in 2011, InDaHouseMedia was built on the idea that there is room in the house for everyone. With InDaHouseMedia, Dorn’s mission is to provide the future generation with positive direction through sports, music, and photography.
