Dr. Marlyn S. Wright: Empowering Lives Through Faith, Leadership, and the Power of Renewal

From the depths of loss to the heights of love, Dr. Marlyn S. Wright, celebrated pastor, author, and philanthropist, is a testament to resilience and faith.

After being a widow for five years, Dr. Wright joyfully embraced a new chapter by marrying Bishop James Wright Jr. on March 10, 2024, blending their families and strengthening her life’s purpose of encouraging others to persevere through life’s toughest battles.

From Pain to Purpose: A Leader’s Journey to Healing

Dr. Wright’s life took an unexpected turn after the devastating loss of her eldest son in 2016 and her late spouse in 2019. Struggling with years of grief and depression, she found the strength to rise and lead, even while navigating her own healing journey.

“As a leader, I know what it’s like to get up every day and encourage others while feeling like you’re drowning,” Dr. Wright shares. Determined to turn her pain into purpose, she launched the mentorship program ‘Journey to You’, empowering individuals to discover their life’s purpose through their struggles

Recognizing the profound impact of grief, she also founded Winning Against All Odds, a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping individuals battle grief, develop life skills, and grow as leaders within a supportive community.

A New Chapter of Love and Family

Now living a unique long-distance marriage with her husband, who resides in Florida, Dr. Wright cherishes the beautiful blended family they’ve created, including her biological son, Kenny Gaines (30), two grandsons, and five children from her husband’s family.

“God has truly blessed me with love and family in a way I never expected,” says Dr. Wright. “Our marriage might be unconventional, but it works for us, and we are excited about the journey of ‘NEXT.’”

A Voice for Women and Leaders

Dr. Wright continues to empower women and leaders through her books, including A Queen Waiting On Her King, a guide for single women preparing for marriage, and her newly released journal, Heal The Little Girl Within.

This year, Dr. Wright hosted her transformative ‘Heal The Little Girl Within’ Women’s Conference, first in Atlanta and then in Miami, providing a space for women to find healing and restoration.

Leadership and Legacy

Having pastored for 21 years, Dr. Wright is approaching her 22nd Pastoral Anniversary in February 2025. She serves as the Senior Pastor and Founder of Life Line Family Worship Center in Fayetteville, GA. Her passion for leadership continues to inspire the congregation and her broader community.

She also inspires through her Facebook Live show, Motivation Moment with Marlyn, and leads as College Dean at The School of The Great Commission Bible College, Fayetteville Campus.

Encouraging Others to Win

Dr. Wright’s life and work are a testament to her personal motto from Ecclesiastes 9:10: “Whatsoever your hand finds to do, do it with all thy might.” Affectionately known as “The Winologist,” she coaches individuals into their purpose with Kingdom wisdom and spiritual strategies.

Celebrity photographer and disabled Vietnam veteran Jerome Dorn embodies the very definition of resilience. Born in Philadelphia, the fifth of seven children, Dorn stayed focused throughout his youth, eventually obtaining his degree in Criminal Justice. Dorn has worked with the Philadelphia Police Department, Department of Justice, World Wide Detective Agency, and several other high profile security groups. Throughout his successful career, Dorn wrestled with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, an aftereffect of his military service. Battling the pain and debilitating effect of PTSD, Dorn found comfort behind the camera. Photography proved to be not only therapeutic, but life changing as well. Dorn picked up his first camera in 1970 while serving in Vietnam and knew instantly that behind the lens was where he belonged. His shooting style and photographs were special, generating a buzz in the industry. In 1985, he began his career in photojournalism, working in a variety of genres. Dorn’s credentials include fashion, lifestyle photography, photojournalism, and celebrity/red carpet coverage. Working with MSNBC, Jet Magazine, and major publications in Philadelphia and around the country, Dorn has had the honor of capturing the images of hundreds of notable celebrities and politicians including President Barack Obama, George Bush Jr, Bill and Hillary Clinton, Maya Angelou, Jesse Jackson, Rihanna, Snoop Dog, Will Smith, and Tyler Perry. Photography has sent Dorn around the globe, inspiring his passion for civil activism. In 1995, Dorn assembled and led a group of forty-two men to the Million Man March. Together, they spent five days walking from Philadelphia to Washington DC. In his travels, Dorn observed a common theme amongst the youth of the world. Many of the children he encountered seemed lost. Understanding that opportunities for at-risk youth are minimal, Dorn was inspired to make a difference. Established by Dorn in 2011, InDaHouseMedia was built on the idea that there is room in the house for everyone. With InDaHouseMedia, Dorn’s mission is to provide the future generation with positive direction through sports, music, and photography.
