VyStar Amphitheater at The Bridge Celebrated Father’s Day Weekend with Powerhouse Performances and Unshakable Community Spirit Despite the Storm

VyStar Amphitheater was alive with timeless energy and legendary vocals as concertgoers gathered on Saturday, June 14, 2025, for the highly anticipated ‘Ladies of the 80’s’ concert. Held in celebration of Father’s Day Weekend, the evening brought together generations of music lovers for a night of unforgettable performances. Despite a burst of summer rain & thunder during the show, the energy never wavered. Guests stayed, danced, and sang along as the stage lit up with a lineup of powerhouse women who defined an era of soul, R&B, disco, and gospel. Hosted by the ever-charismatic Darlene McCoy, the Ladies of the 80s concert was a radiant celebration of Black Music Month, legacy, and sisterhood.

Kicking off the night with unmatched power, gospel great Beverly Crawford shook the stage with her soul-stirring vocals, setting the spiritual tone for what was to come. Shanice followed with pure joy, lighting up the crowd with her infectious energy and beloved hit, ‘I Love Your Smile.’ Turning up the groove, Evelyn “Champagne” King brought the party with disco staples like, ‘Love Come Down,’ getting everyone on their feet despite the rain. Karyn White kept the energy high with bold performances of ‘Superwoman’ and ‘Secret Rendezvous,’ reminding everyone of her fierce vocal strength. While Deniece Williams slowed things down with her angelic voice, delivering emotional renditions of ‘Free’ and ‘Silly’ that had the crowd swaying. Closing the night, Grammy-winner Regina Belle brought it all home with heartfelt performances of ‘Baby Come to Me’ and ‘A Whole New World,’ leaving the audience in awe.

Even through the storm, the ‘Ladies of the 80’s’ proved that true talent shines in any weather. Of course, adding an extra dash of seasoning and surprise, ‘The Silver Fox Squad’ made a special appearance that had the crowd on their feet as they embodied elegance, fatherhood, and excellence with every confident step.

As part of Black Music Month, the evening was a powerful representation and celebration of the rich legacy and cultural impact of Black artistry. Even the rain added a poetic touch, making each performance feel even more intimate, emotional, and unforgettable.

Sponsored by VyStar Credit Union, Piedmont Health, AFLAC, and the City of Stockbridge, the Ladies of the 80’s concert was more than an event—it was a celebration of love, legacy, and living legends.
