Consulate General of Israel to the Southeast Participates in Morehouse Ceremonies
This month, the induction ceremony for the Morehouse College Martin Luther King Jr. College of Ministers and Laity took place as part of the rededication of Morehouse’s newly renovated Martin Luther King Jr. Chapel. Consul General Anat Sultan-Dadon, herself a 2021 inductee of the College of Ministers and Laity, took part in the ceremony.
In addition to delivering remarks as part of a group of speakers that included Andrew Young and Al Sharpton, Consul General Sultan-Dadon presented the school with a shofar from Israel (that was sounded at the opening of the ceremony by Rabbi Larry Sernovitz, a 2022 inductee of the college), in appreciation of the partnership between the college and the Consulate General of Israel to the Southeast. The ongoing partnership includes the Covenant program, which draws upon the legacies of African American, Jewish and Israeli leaders − Henrietta Szold, Abraham Joshua Heschel, Constance Baker Motley, Yitzhak Rabin, Samuel DuBois Cook, Coretta Scott King, Martin Luther King, Jr., and Ruth Bader Ginsburg.
