THE GREEN BROTHERS RASHEED AND SAEED JOIN PANEL AT INDAHOUSEMEDIA’S CINEMA NIGHT

By Dr. Jerome Dorn

InDaHouseMedia’s highly anticipated Cinema Night just got even more electrifying. The powerhouse creative duo Rasheed and Saeed Green—best known as The Green Brothers—are joining the featured panel discussion on May 18th at Backstage Atlanta, bringing with them a bold vision, a deep love for storytelling, and a film that’s already creating serious buzz in the industry.

Known for their seamless creative synergy and commitment to authentic representation, The Green Brothers have become trailblazers in the world of independent cinema. As founders of Green Company Pictures and New Magic Pictures, they’ve taken the reins of their own narratives—crafting films that reflect the richness, complexity, and humor of the Black experience.

At Cinema Night, hosted by InDaHouseMedia, attendees can expect a powerful evening of screenings, conversations, and connections that celebrate Black excellence in film and media. With Rasheed and Saeed Green on the panel, the night is set to be part masterclass, part movement.

“Having Rasheed and Saeed Green at our panel is a major win,” says Dr.Dorn , founder of InDaHouseMedia. “They represent everything this night is about—trailblazing, storytelling, and elevating the culture.”

Their latest project, “Ratchet”, a horror/thriller/comedy mashup, is poised to break new ground in the genre. Written, directed, and produced by the brothers themselves, Ratchet is already building steam with features on Fox 5 Atlanta, The Big Tigger Morning Show, The Chubb Rock Morning Show, CBS, and B High ATL.

Set in a vibrant urban backdrop, Ratchet tells the story of a morally grounded music manager (played by Christina Karis) who begins to suspect a terrifying link between a rising hip-hop artist she manages and a string of brutal slayings in the city. With a blend of suspense, satire, and cultural commentary, Ratchet dares to explore what happens when horror meets hip hop—and the result is something fans have never seen before.

“When you think horror, you rarely think hip,” says Rasheed Green. “You rarely think Black, urban people in a hip-hop setting. You don’t correlate it with a soul or trap soundtrack. That’s what Ratchet is. We know what our culture likes—and we know they’re going to enjoy it.”

Ratchet features standout performances from Karis, alongside the comedic genius of Rodney Perry (Madea’s Big Happy Family, Coming 2 America, Johnson Family Vacation). With a modest budget of just $50K–$75K, the film delivers big on thrills, laughs, and originality. It’s expected to hit the film festival circuit in summer 2025, with a fall release already in the works.

The Green Brothers’ journey into filmmaking started in 2006 with a simple music video project. Intrigued by the process, they began to study filmmaking and experiment with stories close to their hearts. Their early sci-fi short The Campbell gained traction at notable festivals like BronzeLens, Peachtree Village International Film Festival, and San Diego Black Film Festival. That momentum led to The Urbans, a breakout series that featured industry icons like Clifton Powell, Rodney Perry, Bern Nadette Stanis, and Donnell Rawlings, and has since amassed over 30 million views on Instagram alone.

Now, with an award-winning series and a game-changing feature film on the horizon, The Green Brothers are standing tall at the intersection of culture and cinema.

Whether you’re an aspiring filmmaker, a student of the craft, or simply someone who loves a good story, Cinema Night with The Green Brothers is an event you won’t want to miss. It’s a rare opportunity to hear from two visionaries redefining what it means to create, collaborate, and stay true to your voice in an ever-evolving industry.

Dorn picked up his first camera in 1970 while serving in Vietnam and knew instantly that behind the lens was where he belonged. His shooting style and photographs were special, generating a buzz in the industry. In 1985, he began his career in photojournalism, working in a variety of genres.
