Released today, Tuesday, August 25, 2026, the 10-track project is an intimate and uplifting soundtrack to Danton’s life journey, bringing together faith, reflection, affirmation, personal growth, and real life through a compelling fusion of gospel, R&B, soul, and urban sounds.
At the center of MANTRAS is Danton’s belief in the transformative power of words and what happens when people choose to speak life over themselves.
More than a collection of songs, the EP is an invitation to reflect, believe again, embrace growth, and discover purpose.
“MANTRAS is the soundtrack to my life journey, where faith, reflection, affirmation and real life all meet,” says Danton Whitley Sr. “I wanted to create music that speaks to the mind and spirit while still feeling good. The project moves through gospel, R&B, soul and urban sounds, but at the center of it all is the power of words and what happens when we choose to speak life over ourselves.”
Danton describes the sound of MANTRAS as “New Nostalgia,” a distinctive musical approach that takes familiar, soulful influences and reimagines them through a fresh and progressive lens.
“It carries pieces of music that feel familiar, soulful and rooted in what we grew up loving, but I’ve reimagined those influences through a fresh, progressive lens,” he explains. “It feels like something you remember and something you’ve never heard at the same time.”
The result is a project that honors the music that shaped Danton while creating a sound that is contemporary, authentic, and uniquely his own.
The first single from MANTRAS, “New,” was released ahead of the EP and introduces listeners to the heart of Danton’s project.
The smooth, soulful gospel single is a deeply personal testimony about God’s love, spiritual transformation, and purpose.
Inspired in part by his wife, Felicia Whitley, Danton says God revealed His love to him through their relationship, helping him see his life and purpose from a renewed perspective.
At the heart of “New” is the powerful affirmation:
“You bring out the best in me. You made me new and showed me purpose.”
For Danton, the words are directed toward God and reflect his personal testimony of spiritual renewal.
“When I say, ‘You bring out the best in me, you made me new and showed me purpose,’ I’m talking about God,” says Danton. “God revealed His love to me through my wife, Felicia. Through that love, He opened my eyes to who He is, who I am, and the purpose He has for my life. He truly made me new.”
Danton describes MANTRAS as a project about becoming, growing, and believing again.
The EP explores what it means to find confidence in God and learn to agree with what He has already spoken over your life.
