Atlanta, GA – As the 17th Anniversary of the murder of Kathryn Johnston approaches, Clark Atlanta University’s Dr. Mack Jones Political Science Department is honored to welcome Attorney Shean Williams for a thought-provoking fireside chat on the topic of “Kathryn Johnston and the fight for justice.” The event will take place on Wednesday, November 8th, at 7:00 PM in the Carl and Mary Ware Building Lecture Hall, Room 102. This discussion is part of a series of conversations in the class “Civil Rights Law during the Black Lives Matter Era” taught by Attorney Mawuli Mel Davis. The fireside chat aims to shed light on the ongoing struggles for justice and equality in our society. Attorney Williams will speak about his representation of Kathryn Johnston’s family, the 92-year-old grandmother who was killed by Atlanta Police Officers in November of 2006. The event is open to all Atlanta University Center students and members of the general public. However, due to limited seating availability, attendees are encouraged to arrive early to secure their spots. Light refreshments will be provided. This fireside discussion presents a unique opportunity for attendees to engage with a prominent figure in the fight for civil rights and gain a deeper understanding of the legal challenges faced by marginalized communities in America.
