Award-Winning Filmmaker Ericka Nicole Malone Premieres Transformative Documentary The Bucketwish at the 20th Annual PVIFF

The 20th Anniversary of the Peachtree Village International Film Festival (PVIFF) will mark a milestone moment with the highly anticipated world premiere of The Bucketwish, a bold and inspiring new documentary from award-winning filmmaker, writer, and producer Ericka Nicole Malone. The premiere will take place on Saturday, October 18, 2025 at the elegant Hyatt Villa Christina Hotel in Atlanta, GA.

A daring blend of cinematic storytelling and raw personal truth, The Bucketwish is an experimental exploration of self-discovery, transformation, and the hidden dreams that shape our lives. With an unflinching lens and a deeply personal voice, Malone challenges audiences to move beyond the “temple of the familiar” and embrace the full spectrum of who they are meant to be.

“Many times in our lives we limit ourselves to one aspect of who we are,” Malone shares. “We are multifaceted. We must come out of the temple of our familiar and climb new heights of who we are. I hope through my own journey, audiences will see possibilities and new wishes for their own lives.”

About Ericka Nicole Malone

Ericka Nicole Malone has built an extraordinary reputation as a fearless storyteller and an advocate for authentic representation in Hollywood. A powerhouse filmmaker and entrepreneur, she co-founded Ericka Nicole Malone Entertainment (ENME) with Phillip Robinson, creating a production company where diversity is not just celebrated but embedded in every aspect of the work. More than 85% of ENME’s above- and below-the-line positions are filled by women of color, making it a model for equity and inclusion in the entertainment industry.

Her acclaimed biopic Remember Me: The Mahalia Jackson Story — starring Grammy-winning powerhouse Ledisi, alongside Columbus Short, Janet Hubert, Keith Robinson, and Corbin Bleu — earned 3 NAACP Image Award nominations, with Malone winning Outstanding Breakthrough Creative (Motion Picture). The film swept international festivals with over 50 awards and nominations, including the prestigious African Movie Academy Award for Best Diaspora Feature, and now streams on Hulu.

From writing and producing theatrical hits such as In Love with Tyrone starring Robin Givens and Leon, to creating television projects like Ward of the State with Janet Hubert, Aloma Wright, and Vanessa Estelle Williams, Malone has consistently expanded the possibilities for Black voices and women storytellers.

In addition to her creative success, Malone has established herself as a force for change. Her Power EN-ME Grant provided over $70,000 in 2023 to support women of color filmmakers. She also curates the Ericka Nicole Malone Indie Directors and Creators Spotlight during the Sundance Film Festival — the only fully independently funded event of its kind at the festival — giving rising voices a global platform.

Celebrity photographer and disabled Vietnam veteran Jerome Dorn embodies the very definition of resilience. Born in Philadelphia, the fifth of seven children, Dorn stayed focused throughout his youth, eventually obtaining his degree in Criminal Justice. Dorn has worked with the Philadelphia Police Department, Department of Justice, World Wide Detective Agency, and several other high profile security groups. Throughout his successful career, Dorn wrestled with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, an aftereffect of his military service. Battling the pain and debilitating effect of PTSD, Dorn found comfort behind the camera. Photography proved to be not only therapeutic, but life changing as well. Dorn picked up his first camera in 1970 while serving in Vietnam and knew instantly that behind the lens was where he belonged. His shooting style and photographs were special, generating a buzz in the industry. In 1985, he began his career in photojournalism, working in a variety of genres. Dorn’s credentials include fashion, lifestyle photography, photojournalism, and celebrity/red carpet coverage. Working with MSNBC, Jet Magazine, and major publications in Philadelphia and around the country, Dorn has had the honor of capturing the images of hundreds of notable celebrities and politicians including President Barack Obama, George Bush Jr, Bill and Hillary Clinton, Maya Angelou, Jesse Jackson, Rihanna, Snoop Dog, Will Smith, and Tyler Perry. Photography has sent Dorn around the globe, inspiring his passion for civil activism. In 1995, Dorn assembled and led a group of forty-two men to the Million Man March. Together, they spent five days walking from Philadelphia to Washington DC. In his travels, Dorn observed a common theme amongst the youth of the world. Many of the children he encountered seemed lost. Understanding that opportunities for at-risk youth are minimal, Dorn was inspired to make a difference. Established by Dorn in 2011, InDaHouseMedia was built on the idea that there is room in the house for everyone. With InDaHouseMedia, Dorn’s mission is to provide the future generation with positive direction through sports, music, and photography.
