A bold new dining experience is making its mark on the Memphis riverfront this 901 Day. WALT & RICKY’S officially opens September 1, 2026, unveiling an impressive 300+ seat indoor and outdoor seafood and steakhouse destination where premium seafood, a showcase raw bar, elevated Southern hospitality and breathtaking Mississippi River views set the stage for something distinctly Memphis.

Located at 1 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Ave., WALT & RICKY’S will celebrate its debut with a Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting Ceremony beginning with guest arrival at 3:00 PM and the official ribbon cutting at 4:00 PM. Complimentary valet parking will be available for the Grand Opening and offered during dinner service going forward.

901 DAY: A MEMPHIS TRADITION BEGINS

Opening on 901 Day was intentional. WALT & RICKY’S was created for Memphis, and September 1 will now mark more than the restaurant’s opening day. Every anniversary of WALT & RICKY’S will fall on 901 Day, forever connecting the restaurant’s story and milestones to the city it was built to serve.

The vision is for WALT & RICKY’S to become part of the fabric of Downtown Memphis, giving Memphians a seafood house they can call their own and a destination they are proud to introduce to visitors.

“We want WALT & RICKY’S to be the kind of place where you can close a business deal over lunch, celebrate an anniversary at dinner or bring someone visiting Memphis and say, ‘This is our city,’” said Mowbray Rowand, Co-Owner of WALT & RICKY’S. “Memphis has an incredible identity, and Downtown deserves restaurants and experiences that match that energy. We chose 901 Day because this restaurant belongs to Memphis, and every year when we celebrate our anniversary, we’ll be celebrating the city right along with it.”

HOME OF THE BBQ OYSTER IN MEMPHIS

At the heart of WALT & RICKY’S is a culinary experience designed to give Memphis a true seafood and oyster house. Leading the menu are the restaurant’s signature BBQ Oysters, positioning WALT & RICKY’S as the Home of the BBQ Oyster in Memphis.

The showcase raw bar features fresh oysters, chilled seafood and impressive Seafood Towers, while the kitchen delivers craveable signature dishes including Whole Branzino, Chilean Sea Bass and the Signature Lobster Roll, alongside premium steaks and other thoughtfully crafted selections.

Handcrafted cocktails and thoughtfully selected wines round out a menu built equally for lunch, happy hour, dinner and celebrations.

A centerpiece of the experience is WALT & RICKY’S expansive outdoor patio overlooking the Mississippi River. Designed with an elevated coastal energy, the patio brings the atmosphere of a resort to the Memphis riverfront, creating a setting for oysters, cocktails, seafood and unforgettable views without leaving the heart of the city.

Celebrity photographer and disabled Vietnam veteran Jerome Dorn embodies the very definition of resilience. Born in Philadelphia, the fifth of seven children, Dorn stayed focused throughout his youth, eventually obtaining his degree in Criminal Justice. Working with MSNBC, Jet Magazine, and major publications in Philadelphia and around the country, Dorn has had the honor of capturing the images of hundreds of notable celebrities and politicians including President Barack Obama, George Bush Jr, Bill and Hillary Clinton, Maya Angelou, Jesse Jackson, Rihanna, Snoop Dog, Will Smith, and Tyler Perry. Photography has sent Dorn around the globe, inspiring his passion for civil activism. In 1995, Dorn assembled and led a group of forty-two men to the Million Man March. Together, they spent five days walking from Philadelphia to Washington DC. In his travels, Dorn observed a common theme amongst the youth of the world. Many of the children he encountered seemed lost. Understanding that opportunities for at-risk youth are minimal, Dorn was inspired to make a difference. Established by Dorn in 2011, InDaHouseMedia was built on the idea that there is room in the house for everyone.
