By Brianna Wigfall
Tv One’s first action film and fast-paced thriller “DOWN FOR WHATEVER” will debut July 22, 2018. The story of a young female doctor who works at a prestigious hospital and learns that her newly found biological teen sisters are ruthless cop killers that her detective husband is hunting down.
It all starting with an ABFF submission by director and writer Tim Folsome Back in 2017. Tv One hosted its screen play competition where a hesitant Folsome submitted the Down For Whatever film. Tim was afraid to submit this film due to the big budget but the emotional element of this movie is what stood out to him. “Each character had heart and every time I would read the script I would be brought to tears, so I’m like man this is a emotional movie and I think thats why i liked this scrip the most”. As the winner of the competition the film was produced by TV One and Swirl Films.
The action and drama filled movie was a challange when it came to doing stunts because this genre film was new to a lot of the actors. This was actress Letoya Lucket’s first time stunting in which she did her own stunt a week before her wedding. “We did atleast 14 rehearsals before they yelled actions because they wanted to make sure we were very careful, Not only was I being careful but Bre-z, who I had most of my fight scene with, she was trying to be so gentle because she was like girl I can’t have you walking down the isle with no bruises”. Letoya says she didn’t get hurt because they had a great team helping and she has a lot of fun.
DOWN FOR WHATEVER chronicles Tracy (Luckett), a young successful doctor and her detective husband, Mike (Chanchez). Although happily married, one thing has always been missing in their relationship – a sense of family. Tracy grew up in foster care and longs for the traditional family environment that she never had. When Mike suddenly loses his partner in a senseless cop-killing, Tracy is there to support him. That is, until she receives an unexpected visit from a social worker who informs her that the ruthless killers suspected in the murder are her biological sisters, Denise (Bre-Z) and Sonya (Hakim). Tracy is overwhelmed and in disbelief by the news, but before telling her husband, she decides to track her sisters down herself. Will she make it to them before the cops do?
Down for whatever definitely has some crazy twist and turns and an explosive ending you don’t want to miss. Premiering On Tv One Sunday July 22,2018 at 8 p.m. ET/ 5 p.m. PT.
