The Memorial Roast was conceived by Lewis’ longtime friend and fellow comedian Cocoa Brown, along with his longtime publicist, Dr. April K. Organizers said the event was developed in collaboration with Lewis’ family to reflect his wishes and his connection to the comedy community.

The event will be held at Uptown Comedy Corner, where Lewis previously filmed a widely shared comedy skit featuring Kountry Wayne. Angelo Sykes, owner of Uptown Comedy Corner, said the venue was honored to host the tribute.

Lewis appeared on Russell Simmons’ Def Comedy Jam, BET’s Comic View, and Bad Boys of Comedy. In addition to performing, he was known for supporting and mentoring comedians throughout his career.
