The Pink Awards: A Night of Power, Purpose, and Pink

Dr. Jerome Dorn

In a city known for culture, influence, and resilience, the 6th Annual Pink Awards continues to stand as one of Atlanta’s most meaningful celebrations of courage, community, and Black excellence. More than an awards ceremony, the Pink Awards represents a powerful movement—one that honors breast cancer survivors, uplifts changemakers, and brings together a community committed to awareness, healing, and hope.

Each year, the event gathers an inspiring mix of influencers, celebrities, wellness advocates, entrepreneurs, and community leaders for an unforgettable evening dedicated to celebrating life, strength, and survival. The atmosphere is one of unity and purpose as attendees recognize individuals who are not only thriving in their respective industries but also making transformative contributions to their communities.

A Movement Born From Survival

At the heart of the Pink Awards is a deeply personal story of resilience. Founder and Executive Producer April Love, an entertainment industry veteran and 14-year breast cancer survivor, turned her Stage 3 breast cancer diagnosis in 2009 into a mission to uplift others facing similar battles.

Rather than allowing the diagnosis to define her, Love transformed it into a platform for empowerment. Through the Pink Awards, she created a space where survivors are honored, advocates are celebrated, and the conversation around breast cancer awareness is amplified—especially within communities of color.

Her mission is simple yet powerful: celebrate life, honor resilience, and provide tangible support for those still fighting.

Honoring Excellence and Impact

The Pink Awards ceremony recognizes individuals whose work and influence extend beyond professional success. These honorees are visionaries, innovators, and humanitarians who embody strength and leadership while inspiring others to pursue purpose-driven lives.

Among the prestigious recognitions presented during the evening are:

The Vanguard

Honoring a bold leader who makes remarkable contributions in business while embracing risk and innovation to achieve success.

The Pink Warrior

Presented to a breast cancer survivor who has demonstrated extraordinary courage, resilience, and determination while battling the disease.

The Game Changer

Celebrating an individual who is redefining success and creating opportunities for others while leaving an undeniable mark on their field.

The Visionary

Recognizing a trailblazer who dares to challenge convention and push culture forward through creativity and innovation.

The Samaritan

Awarded to a compassionate leader whose commitment to service and community impact reflects the spirit of generosity and change.

These categories shine a spotlight on individuals who embody leadership, compassion, and the courage to shape the future.

A Night of Celebration and Connection

The Pink Awards experience goes far beyond the stage. Guests enjoy an evening filled with special guest performances, signature cocktails, exclusive sponsor gifting, and powerful moments of recognition that celebrate both personal triumph and collective strength.

The audience itself reflects the reach and impact of the event. Each year, the room fills with celebrities, political leaders, advocates, entrepreneurs, and cultural influencers—all united by a shared commitment to raising awareness and supporting breast cancer survivors.

The energy in the room is electric, fueled by a community passionate about making a difference.

Turning Awareness Into Action

Beyond the glamour and celebration lies the heart of the Pink Awards’ mission: impact.

A portion of the event’s proceeds is dedicated to providing direct support to breast cancer survivors in need. Through the Pink Foundation and the Pink Lady Community, funds help deliver vital resources, wellness initiatives, and holistic support for individuals and families navigating the challenges of breast cancer.

For those unable to attend the ceremony, donations remain an important way to support the cause. Contributions made through the foundation directly help advance wellness equity, empower survivors, and strengthen communities affected by breast cancer.

Leading With Purpose

For April Love, the Pink Awards represents more than an annual gathering—it’s the embodiment of her life’s purpose.

As a respected entertainment PR and brand strategy expert, Love has spent years working with celebrities, corporations, and industry tastemakers. Yet her greatest legacy may be the way she has used her platform to inspire others.

Today, she travels nationwide sharing insights on entrepreneurship, personal growth, and purpose-driven living. Through mentorship, workshops, and motivational speaking, she continues to encourage individuals to transform adversity into opportunity.

The Pink Awards is a reflection of that philosophy—proof that pain can evolve into purpose, and survivorship can inspire a movement.

Celebrating Strength, Fueling Hope

With every honoree recognized, every survivor celebrated, and every story shared, the Pink Awards continues to grow as a symbol of courage and community.

It is a night where awareness meets action, where resilience is honored, and where lives are uplifted through the power of collective support.

Because the Pink Awards isn’t just about a single evening—it’s about building a future where survivorship is celebrated, communities are strengthened, and hope continues to shine bright in every shade of pink.

Celebrity photographer and disabled Vietnam veteran Jerome Dorn embodies the very definition of resilience. Born in Philadelphia, the fifth of seven children, Dorn stayed focused throughout his youth, eventually obtaining his degree in Criminal Justice. Dorn has worked with the Philadelphia Police Department, Department of Justice, World Wide Detective Agency, and several other high profile security groups. Throughout his successful career, Dorn wrestled with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, an aftereffect of his military service. Battling the pain and debilitating effect of PTSD, Dorn found comfort behind the camera. Photography proved to be not only therapeutic, but life changing as well. Dorn picked up his first camera in 1970 while serving in Vietnam and knew instantly that behind the lens was where he belonged. His shooting style and photographs were special, generating a buzz in the industry. In 1985, he began his career in photojournalism, working in a variety of genres. Dorn’s credentials include fashion, lifestyle photography, photojournalism, and celebrity/red carpet coverage. Working with MSNBC, Jet Magazine, and major publications in Philadelphia and around the country, Dorn has had the honor of capturing the images of hundreds of notable celebrities and politicians including President Barack Obama, George Bush Jr, Bill and Hillary Clinton, Maya Angelou, Jesse Jackson, Rihanna, Snoop Dog, Will Smith, and Tyler Perry. Photography has sent Dorn around the globe, inspiring his passion for civil activism. In 1995, Dorn assembled and led a group of forty-two men to the Million Man March. Together, they spent five days walking from Philadelphia to Washington DC. In his travels, Dorn observed a common theme amongst the youth of the world. Many of the children he encountered seemed lost. Understanding that opportunities for at-risk youth are minimal, Dorn was inspired to make a difference. Established by Dorn in 2011, InDaHouseMedia was built on the idea that there is room in the house for everyone. With InDaHouseMedia, Dorn’s mission is to provide the future generation with positive direction through sports, music, and photography.
